While we still have a ways to go till the warmth of summer, that spring sunshine has thinking of refreshing meals so something like this recipe for Beet Gazpacho, or perhaps this Strawberry Quinoa Salad would interest you. Or if you're looking for something a little more, this Chickpea Pot Pie is a delicious new twist on an old classic! Or, if you're looking for a nice tasty Easter or Mother's Day Brunch, this Spring Quiche with a potato crust is sure to hit the spot!
Spring also means that the fleeting ramp season is coming. Ramp pesto is delicious and versatile (and like with all pesto, if you freeze it in smaller portions, you can enjoy ramps throughout the summer!)
Some folks may be hearty enough to grill all winter long, but many may be dusting off those grills in anticipation of cooking outside on a nice evening. Well, with Cinco de Mayo around the corner, we’d recommend either our Grilled Shrimp Tacos or are Grilled Chicken Tacos (and the seasonings and sauces on these two could be interchangeable)
Looking for some sweeter treats? Well rhubarb may be one of the first things to come into season, and when it does you could start your day with some Rhubarb Coffee Cake. You can also use decorating and presentation to further that spring feel by using something like the bunny cakelet pan (we have a carrot cake recipe for that!) or the backyard bugs pan! Another idea is the wildflower loaf pan (and our friends at Nordic Ware have a Lemon Honey Lavender Loaf recipe that is perfect!). And of course the simple sugar cookie can be made a fun spring treat with the right seasonal cookie cutter. (if you’re looking for a little citrus in that spring cookie check out this Lemon Sugar Cookie recipe)!
]]>For many, St. Patrick's Day is simply a time wear green, and celebrate either their Irish heritage, or in many cases...pretend they have Irish heritage. Folks may even enjoy a Guinness, or even dye their beer green. While it can be a holiday that tends to make many think more about beverages, than food, we still thought we could put together a few recipes to help celebrate in style!
To prepare a good corned beef and cabbage recipe with minimal effort and all the flavor you can use a Zavor Lux Edge Multicooker or you can make the same recipe with longer cook times in your slow cooker. Don’t forget a peeler for those potatoes!
Corned beef and cabbage not your thing? We have some other tasty ways to help you celebrate! A classic Irish stew recipe could also be made using a multicooker or your slow cooker depending on how much time you have.
Looking for something a little less traditional? Big fan of spuds? Try our our recipe for Irish Nachos. (pictured here).
Whatever your making, you can enjoy our recipe for Mom's Irish Sodabread any time of day!
However you decide to celebrate this St Patrick's, we hope it's fun, delicious, and safe!
The Super Bowl is coming up, and we’ve assembled some of our favorite super-snack recipes to help provide some inspiration!
Pass the Dip
Dips are a classic game day snack, and whether dunking chips, or veggies, either this white-bean dip, or our homemade tzatziki are great choices!
Finger Foods
Wings are another game day staple, and we put a little Vermont twist on them with our Smokey Maple Wings recipe!
Wings not your thing? With the help of a mini muffin tin you could whip up some mini quiches, or some tasty little taco bites! Do you like to play with your food? All you need is some pancake batter, mini hot dogs and these molds for either cute pigs-in-a-blanket or shark bites! (pictured below)
More Cheese Please
If you like your super-snacks cheesy, well you’ve come to the right place. These Cheesy Cauli-sticks are delicious and can be dunked in marinara sauce. One of our all-time favorite appetizers is this simple recipe for Cheddar Bean Spirals--and of course we recommend using some sharp VT Cheddar. Or, to circle back to where we started, this Cheesy Sausage dip (pictured below) is a real treat!
Hopefully, even if your team isn’t playing in the big game this year, one of these recipes will make your Sunday “super” anyway!
Did you know January is National Soup Month?! Did you know February 25th is National Chili Day? You can celebrate all winter long with this collection of some of our favorite recipes for soups, stews and chilis, because we know these recipes are perfect for warming you on those cold winter days! Depending upon the recipe, you may need a stockpot, a Dutch oven, a slow cooker, or the popular Zavor Multicooker, which continues to be one of the biggest trends in cooking...so you can cook your soups fast, or slow!
Chili:
While there’s plenty of great classic beef chili recipes out there, so we thought we’d give you a couple that’re a little unique, like this Veggie Chili recipe (it’s technically vegan, but we top with cheese…). Another, tasty chili with a twist is this recipe for White Bean Chicken Chili! If you're looking for something with a little more spice to it, we recently tried this Chipotle Bean Chili (pictured below).
Soups:
We previously mentioned this Creamy Pumpkin Soup recipe in our post of as one of our best recipes for Fall, as well as a great Turkey Soup recipe from our collection of Thanksgiving recipes. Both of these tasty soups can warm you up all winter as well! Another easy and popular recipe in our house is Taco Soup, which cooks up nice and easily in the slow cooker! We also recently tried this delicious Coconut Sweet Potato Soup (pictured below). Or this delicious 30min or less Multi Cooker Tomato Soup!
Stews:
While celebrating Mardi Gras may look a little different this year, you can still get some flavor of New Orleans with this recipe for Jambalaya! And while St Patrick’s Day is still a couple months away, this recipe for Irish Stew is a great winter warmer! Beef stew not your thing? This recipe for Veggie Quinoa Stew is delicious (and has a beautiful blend of colors with optional toppings depending on your taste!). We also recently came across this recipe from our friends a Le Creuset for Green Chili Pork Stew that looks incredible, and can be made in a dutch oven. Another new recipe we tried is this spicy white bean Beef Stew, (pictured below) that can be done either in a Multicooker or a slow cooker.
We hope one, (or more) of these recipes helps warm you up this winter!

OXO Swivel Peeler. What do you get the person who has everything? Maybe a new version of something they may already have! Most people don't think about the fact that peeler blades go dull and should be replaced periodically. Try a brand new peeler after you've been using a dull one for years and you'll notice the difference right away! The OXO Swivel peeler is our favorite peeler with a sharp blade that swivels to maintain contact with the food, and a big grip handle that won't slip out of wet hands!

This set gives you an Emile Henry pizza stone (high quality glazed Burgundy that's even safe to put on the grill!) and a pizza peel! Sugar Bob's Smoked Maple Sriracha It's hard to go wrong with any of our Vermont made hot sauces, but Sugar Bob's says it best of their own sauce: "The perfect union of all we do - smoke, heat and sweet!"
Original Maple Pepper. A delicious combo of sweet maple sugar, savory black pepper and sea salt! Use as a dry rub, or marinade. Shake on seafood or veggies. Liven up things like eggs, popcorn, soups salads and more!

When it comes to Thanksgiving, the turkey tends to get the most attention. However, we think it’s an assortment of other things that take Thanksgiving from a meal to a feast! So we put together an assortment of recipes (mostly sides!) to help make your Turkey Day extra delicious.
Kicking things off
Looking for a cocktail to get you in the spirit of the holiday while you put the final touches on the meal? This recipe for honeycrisp sangria is like fall in a wine glass (or whatever glass you put it in). It needs to chill for several hours, so we recommend making the night before so when you’re ready….it’s ready!
The Sidekicks
As we mentioned, while the turkey is the headliner, we think sides are what really make the meal. If you read our blog post Vermont Inspired Recipes for Fall you may already be planning to make our Maple Roasted Butternut Squash, because it's easy, delicious and a perfect Thanksgiving side!
In our opinion, when there’s a nice full gravy boat in the middle of the table, you may want to keep your veggies simple and allow those veggies to dip their toes in the gravy. If that’s your style, we’d recommend this recipe for roasted broccoli, or our roast brussel sprouts recipe. If you’d like to infuse some more flavor into your greens, we’d try Brussels with Bacon and Fig Balsamic! If you like to roast up a lot of veggies, we like to recommend the Nordic Ware Big Sheet. It’s an large sheet pan (that is also available as a non-stick option), allowing for more space for more veggies! And whether you roasting veggies, or your turkey, we have lots of great roasting pan options!
Speaking of gravy....no side is more equipped to pair with your meal than mashed potatoes. We love this recipe for slow cooker mashed potatoes, for two reasons. First, it's really tasty. Second, putting the potatoes in the slow cooker means you can free up a burner for anything else you might need and the stove, as well as set it and forget about them for a while. You can use your slow cooker or the slow cooking function on your multi-cooker (these continue to be one of the hottest trends in cooking!)
Sweet Treats!
If there's still room for more after you're meal, its time for dessert! Obviously, we'd recommend any pie recipe from Vintage Pies, or one of our favorites, this Maple Pumpkin Pie Recipe!
The next day
Of course it’s important to make sure there’s bread for leftover turkey sandwiches. Those sandwiches should also be made by stuffing any leftover sides available in there with the turkey! While turkey sandwiches offer an immediate reward, Turkey Soup is the gift that keeps on giving! (How big a turkey you cooked will impact how big a stock pot you need) Turkey Soup may be the comfort food we need this winter!
With recipes such as Blackberry Cornmeal Cake, Shaved Asparagus Toasts, and Maple Pulled Pork Sliders, her food is based on Vermont produce, dairy, wine, and flour.

We’re a small family owned business that cares about our community. We always have tried to give in various ways to many different causes in an effort to give back to the community that has always supported our business.
We’ve always felt supported by our community and our customers, but never more than during the year 2020. At the time we were a brick and mortar retail store, with less than 5% of our products on our website, and we had to close our doors for over 2 months. At the time we had to close, one of our kids was 3, and the other was just 3 months. Facing such an uncertain future was scary.
However, the thing that sustained us through those times, was overwhelming support of our community. Whether it was customers greatly inconveniencing themselves to make any purchase they could, or just reaching out to check in and see how we were doing, all of it meant so much to us.
As a result of this, we decided to put more structure around the way we gave back to our community. We wanted to make sure that we were contributing in a bigger way, and in a way that could give our business more purpose. In May of 2021 we committed to helping make the fight against food insecurity part of our mission. Since then we have dedicated 1 weekend a month to donate 10% of our sales to various organizations that work to solve these issues in our state. We’re proud to say that since then we’ve donated over $17,000 to these partner organizations. We have also used our ever expanding social media platforms, and email lists to raise awareness about these organizations and their missions in an effort to further educate our community about the challenges of food insecurity.
Today, we’re excited to announce a change in our efforts to further help in the effort to eradicate hunger. We will no longer have monthly donation campaign events. Instead, we will donate 1% of ALL our sales to supporting organizations leading in the fight against food insecurity. We make this shift for a few reasons, but the primary one is simple. We want to make sure that our commitment goes beyond 12 weekends a year. This change ensures that every item we sell is a part of this commitment. Every chef’s knife, every skillet, every piggy-shaped whisk is part of our goal to help fight food insecurity. This also ensures that as our business grows, so does our effort to combat hunger.
As a Vermont based business, the majority of our sales (and thus our donations) are Vermont based and we look forward to continuing to support the partners we’ve been working with. That said, we’ve come a long way since the early days of 2020 and we’ve seen our customer base grow outside of Vermont. For purchases made outside Vermont, those donations will be made to your state’s local food bank on an annual basis.
We believe that the “Kiss the Cook community”, wherever you’re located, is one that cares about delicious food, quality cookware for their kitchen, and cares about their neighbors.
We will continue to use our platforms to try and educate about the realities of food insecurity, and what can be done to help. And we will continue to look for new ways to grow and improve our commitment to our community.
Thank you for your time, and your ongoing support.
-Luke
